It rises from it's own ashes only in mythology if your poem is a myth. And since it is definitely a good here and now tangible poem, it is surely no myth, so yes, the bird known as ma has risen from it's ashes to take her place with the poets of Mars, who are also not mythical.

How much do American airline upgrades cost? ?
In a few days I have a flight from phoenix to Chicago. It's me and my friend. We want to upgrade to first class. How much would it cost for us to buy upgrades?

It probably won't cost you anything because you probably won't get it. I'm presuming that you don't have elite AAdvantage status because if you did you would almost certainly know. First class usually fills up (with the few people who actually book first class plus elite frequent fliers) with more people with elite status still on the upgrade request list. For those times when that doesn't happen, upgrades are available for $50 per 500 miles, so for your flight it would be $150 per person, each way to upgrade. Oh, and sometimes in the very unusual event that four hours before departure there still aren't enough upgrade requests to fill first class, they start offering upgrades to any taker at check-in for $75. But if you've already requested it at that point, you still have to pay $150 for it.

what to do in airport while wating
what to do in airport while wating?
I have a 3 hour break between flights in Phoenix. Im 19, so i cant go to the bar and have 3-5 drinks in that time. So what do i do for 3 solid hours? And also after that i got 4 hours flight into Dallas... boooring time on the plane... plz help. i already got my mp3 and a sketch book (imma artist)... anything else? except sleeping. EDIT1: my bad... i just guessed with 4 hours flight... im not checking the tickets... so... makes me happy if its 2 and a half :)

Uhm, bring a book with you? Or if you have a laptop, bring it and watch a movie. I would go with the book though, kind of sad it wasnt already included on your list of items. For one thing, the flight to Dallas from Phoenix is only two and a half hours, not FOUR. Actually, three hours to kill in an airport is not as much as it seems. Grab a bite to eat, browse through a few of the shops and then start looking for your gate. The time will fly by.... you'll see. It's not as bad as it sounds. BTW, the airport in Phoenix is a Wi-Fi hot spot if that helps any.

So what you got was like Grannies against warm milk carrying a coffee bomb, OR Al QuedNERD carring their BMD (Boogers of Mass Distruction), you get the idea. I guess that it is a variation on girls making fun of the way people are dressed but it had them in stitches for about half and hour and heck it made me smile.

So lets see, assume your flight into Phoenix arrives on time, give yourself 15 to 30 minutes to get off the plane, depending on where you sit. Another 30 to find your connecting gate and you've killed an hour. Go for a nice cardio walk around the terminal - all that sitting on two different flights is bad for your circulatory system. That should kill another 30 minutes. If you're carrying luggage, all the better. Work out that upper body too. Fell like a little excitement? go outside the security zone about 1 hour before your flight. Maybe the TSA lines are short, maybe not.

How can I find the peoples names that were on my flight
How can I find the peoples names that were on my flight?
Yesterday I took a flight from Phoenix az to Newark NY and I was flirting with a girl I didn't really talk to her just staring laughing and such and she was really cool and I was too stupid to get her name or number so I really have absolutely no way of looking her up and wanted to know if I could get a list of names that were on my flight is that possible...it would really suck if I never saw or talked to her ever again she was really cool and good looking :) can't explain it...I know I'm dumb for not asking her her name or anything but any way I could get a flight list or another way to identify her i've been thinking about it allll day!

Has anyone ever bought (flight) tickets from yahoo travel?
We bought tickets back in Oct when the rates were low for direct flights from Milwaukee to Phoenix. According to Yahoo, the airline has changed out flight to a layover in Atlanta before we get to PHX. According to MKE Airt Tran does direct flights to PHX but they switched it. Is there any leeway with this? This is the first time I've booked tickets.

Yahoo just sells the tickets. They have no control over the airline's flight schedule. If AirTran changed your flight, call them and they will work with you. I have had the same thing happen to me on Delta. I just called Delta, gave them my confirmation number and they worked out something. When I book a ticket with SouthWest can I get a seat next to somebody who's booking his flight separately?
I found a reasonable priced flight from Providence, RI to Phoenix. I want to fly together with a friend and if possible we want to sit next to each other. But each one of us wants to purchase our tickets separately. So is it somehow possible that this works out the way I want?

Southwest has an open seating policy. That meaning you pick your own seat once you board the aircraft. So, the key to getting seats together, is to check-in prior to your flight (24hrs) online and get a good boarding number. Then one of you can head down the jetway, board, and save the seat next to you for your friend. Its not hard, just checking in the night before to get earlier boarding will almost guarantee you two seats together.

i purchased a online ticket for southwest houston to las vegas and when they started boarding first came online then everyone else i think but you might want to ask customer service but from what i know they don't have assign seating

Can someone tell me why this Southwest flight from Nashville to Phoenix is going to take so long?
i'm originally flying from detroit, and i have a layover in nashville. from detroit to nashville it's only a half hour, but i dont understand why from nashville to phoenix it's 4 hours and 45 minutes? from detroit to phoenix it's only about 4 hours...and detroit seems way farther than nashville from phoenix. can someone please help me understand why it's going to take almost an hour longer when it seems like it's just a straight shot going west? i'm not trying to sound stupid :/ i'm just curious lol. it's just that on a map, detroit seems farther than nashville.

Airlines will pad the schedule sometimes if they are flying into and out of a congested airport. But I agree that it appears Nashville is closer to Phoenix than Detroit. I would expect a flight from Detroit to Phoenix to be at least 5 hours.

I'm due to fly tomorrow (short flights, no more than 2.5 hrs) but today I woke up with a slight ringing in my ears and a little pain, mostly in the right ear. Its nothing that I can't bear, but I remember once many years ago on a flight to Phoenix my ears were in incredible pain as we landed. (I don't remember if I had an ear infection back then) I've flown since then with no problems. Any advice to make the trip more comfortable?

Its the changes to the air pressure that you are feeling. When your ears are healthy the pressure in the ear equalizes with the pressure in the cabin automatically. But if you have a ear infection or a blocked nose sometimes your ears will pop or even be painful because of the pressure. Try squeezing your nose and blow through your nose gently. Do you feel your ears pop ? If you do then repeat the exercise during the flight and after take off or landing. You could try Sudafed spray to ease the congestion. If you cant equalize the pressure this way you may feel pain.

My husband is a retired Air Force Pilot and flies our private plane frequently. Here is what he recommends and what I have found really works! Do nothing during takeoff or during the normal part of the flight. When the descent starts (which is when the pain occurs) try to clear your ears yourself. When you can no longer clear your ears, spray AFRIN into your nose two times each side. It will instantly clear your ears and take the pain away! You can only do this one time so make sure you wait until your ears are not clearing before you spray. Also, it won't work a second time so if you have a connecting flight, you're out of luck. BE SURE YOU DO NOT USE THE AFRIN BEFORE OR DURING THE FLIGHT. Only use it on the descent!

What can I do at San Francisco Airport if I arrive at 11.35AM , and my connecting flight is at 3.35PM

What can I realistically do? Between collecting my luggage (Cathay Pacific, from Hong Kong) and checking it back in to the following flight (US Airways to Phoenix)? I've never been to SF and would like to venture out for an hour or so just to see the sights. Please advise!

You really don't have as much time as you think you have. You would not get your luggage through customs for at least 30 - 45 min. and you have to be at the gate 45 min before. If you leave the airport - you have to go through security again which could add an additional hour if the line is long. See if you can schedule a longer layover - and take the BART into SF - but that is underground so won't see much.

Realistically, not much. It'll probably take you an hour to get your luggage and clear customs, which makes it 12:30. You should check in and get your boarding pass for the Phoenix flight right away, even if you're checked in you'll need to be back at the airport around 2:30. The 12:39 BART gets to the Powell station downtown at 1:08, and you'd need to catch the 1:57 train to get back to the airport at 2:27. So you'd have about 45 minutes to look at (probably not ride) the cable cars, and soak up the ambiance. Beats hanging around the airport, I guess.

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is the 5th busiest airport in the US, with more demands by customers for flights by large airlines like United Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and especially US Airways. Mexico City is all but one of the smallest routes out of Phoenix. It's really not an important one. I honestly do not know where you got that statement from, but its obviously a lie, Aero Mexico Serves flight from Mexico City and other parts of Mexico, daily. The busiest routes out of Phoenix are Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Seattle, Dallas, Minneapolis, etc. Sky Harbor isn't big on International travel either, we only have British Airways, Air Canada, Aero Mexico, WestJet, and the coming of Emirates in the near future. Airlines such as Virgin America, and Air France/ KLM are looking to bring service to Phoenix because we are a very busy airport with high demands in air travel requiring more airlines to more cities and more countries. What to do on overnight flight?
I just booked an overnight flight for my trip to Florida because it was a lot cheaper. The flight is from Phoenix to Atlanta on Delta. My iPod just broke, so I can look into getting another one but what do people do on an overnight flight? By the way I am a very light sleeper so that's why I won't be able to just sleep...

Do what you can. Wear comfortable shoes and pants so you can relax, and try to read or listen to quiet music. It's a very long time to sit up watching movies or listening to death metal, and you will arrive very tired if you don't try to rest.

read a book, drink, dont go to bed the night before so sleeping is easier on the plane, do paperwork / schoolwork, eat a weed brownie. other than that theres not too much else you can do on a plane.

Think of what you'll do once you reach Atlanta. I am generally a good sleeper. But, if I can't sleep I do the above.

How can I find out if someone got on their flight?
My boyfriend was supposed to board a flight from NYC to Phoenix about two hours ago. I tried calling his phone all day and couldn't get a hold of him. Now his phone is off but I'm worried sick and want to know if he got on the plane. Is there any way to find out that info?

There are a lot of legal Mexicans in Arizona, many of which agree with the law; they really don't appreciate illegal immigrants taking jobs from them when they themselves had to go through the immigration process. I don't know why the airline would do that, it's very stupid really. There are a lot of legal Mexicans in Arizona, many of which agree with the law; they really don't appreciate illegal immigrants taking jobs from them when they themselves had to go through the immigration process. This is all so absurd, why are they so outraged by the Arizona law when Mexico also has immigration laws, and believe me, Mexican immigration is much tougher (I've been there). In "Flight of the Phoenix," how come all the characters who are stranded in the plane crash, suck up to the macho Dennis Quaid character, and despise the unassuming & helpful Giovanni Ribisi character? I realize it's just a movie, but the fact that the screenwriter thought to shape the characters this way, makes me think that he/she thought that this is the way things would naturally work out, in real life. I could see them all disliking the Ribisi character, if he was this selfish, arrogant, know-it-all, but he seems nice-- quiet, but nice-- he just wants to help everyone re-build the plane, & get out of the desert; he only turns out to be jerky later, after weeks of the other characters pushing his buttons, and being nasty & ungrateful, for (what it seems to me) no reason... why do they all continually bust the Ribisi character's chops, and then end up practically worshipping the macho-asshole Dennis Quaid character?

This was the worst flight I have ever taken and should be on the news. There were airplane door problems, refueling issues, bathroom light issues, bathroom water issues and passenger seat problems. It was delayed and passengers were boarded and deboarded multiple times with little or no air conditioning in Phoenix 109 degree weather. We were told that Customer Relations would contact us with some sort of compensation. It better not be a $10 meal voucher!

I would not only contact the airline, but also the airport operations center and talk with a manager. Ever since they merged with America West Airlines...they have made everyone's travels a disaster. I'm taking a flight to Phoenix out of Atlanta Monday morning (BCS national championship game), but there are reports of a "wintry mix" and 70% precipitation. I've never flown before, and it's critical that I get to Phoenix in time for the game. I should also note that I have a stop in Fort Worth, TX. Can anyone tell me the likelihood of my flight being canceled or delayed? I'm kind of nervous.

In "Flight of the Phoenix," how come all the characters who are stranded in the plane crash, suck up to the macho Dennis Quaid character, and despise the unassuming & helpful Giovanni Ribisi character? I realize it's just a movie, but the fact that the screenwriter thought to shape the characters this way, makes me think that he/she thought that this is the way things would naturally work out, in real life. I could see them all disliking the Ribisi character, if he was this selfish, arrogant, know-it-all, but he seems nice-- quiet, but nice-- he just wants to help everyone re-build the plane, & get out of the desert; he only turns out to be jerky later, after weeks of the other characters pushing his buttons, and being nasty & ungrateful, for (what it seems to me) no reason... why do they all continually bust the Ribisi character's chops, and then end up practically worshipping the macho-asshole Dennis Quaid character?

I think these attitudes by the book and movie writers just reflect what they think is typical middle class American values. These well defined but different characters also provide some "meat", substance to the story which might be a bit boring to non-aviation viewers. There were two movies made of this and I really enjoyed both, although the first one with James Stewart as the pilot was my favorite. I also was rooting for the intellectual guy, the designer, and a bet many other viewers were also.

I liked this movie, and to tell you the Truth, Dennis is the captain so naturally they all look to him for help, and Ribis to me in my opinion was kind of annoying even before he turned out to be this know it all/ not real plain builder guy, but to tell you the truth I think the screen writer was going with the original movie, because it was a remake of the older flight of the Phoenix, so i believe it had nothing to do with how he or she thought people would act naturally.

He was looked to by all as their pilot therefore he had the power. Once it was discovered Ribisi's character could put out-faith was restored. Ribisi's character was one of the most arrogant character's I have ever seen portrayed. And he was a murderer.
