Your problem is that you only have 7 days before you fly ... so it will be expensive. If you had purchased your ticket a couple of weeks ago it would have been much less expensive ... wait I'll check some sites and update ... Looks like $85 plus tax on both America West (US Airways) and Southwest ... so about $100 total. I would check into Greyhound if you absolutely must be there ... because I think LAX would be about the same price.

Does it cost more money to book a flight 6 months ahead?
I was booking a flight to Phoenix, AZ in June, it said that it cost $365 for a round trip ticket. I checked if I had wanted to book it in Feb. and it only cost around $170, for round trip. And I was booking both on Tuesdays, which are supposed to be cheaper. Any advice? Please help!!!!

Usually you get a lower price if you book ahead. But here, it seems you are comparing a February flight to a June flight, which may differ because of high/low season. Meaning, there is probably a lot more travelers in June (summer, vacation), so the airlines will charge more during that high season.

I would sign up to get email blasts from the airline, they will in turn advise you of seat sales, there isn't a right time to book really , to get the best value follow the seat sales. Check the airlines website for details.

I normally get plane tickets 4-6 months in advance. Never get tickets on the weekends, or Monday or Friday. Really the best days to get them are Wednesdays and Thursdays. With rising fuel costs and airlines raising their tickets every few months, its better to get them well ahead of time. Keep checking online for the flight you want. You'll see the price change up to 4 times a day.

I am being told there may not be a movie shown on my Northwest flight from Phoenix to Detroit?? Why not? It's supposed to be a 4 hour flight!!! It's on a Boeing 757-200 if that helps. The trip from Detroit to Phoenix will be almost 4 and a half hours. I've never been on a flight that long without a movie.

I'm not sure, sorry but you can call the airlines and ask them, if they just provide with TV you can do, its only 4 hours or so so you'll survive, don't worry. Just in case, bring something else entertainable like a magazine or a book, portable music players, maybe even a labtop if you need too.

I am not sure what is cheap for you, but Thanksgiving week is the highest flying season of the year. Hence, the airlines will increase the prices knowing people are desperate to fly and some don't care how much money they pay. On average a good round trip will be paying around $280. i'm pretty sure you have to be at least 18 there are several flights schools in the valley-call the ones near you to be sure. my bf did his flight training in sedona when he was 22 and he said they required you to be 18. hope this helps!!

All the planes that week are flying at or near capacity; customer loads are a lot lower the week before. That's peak travel time so of course prices are going to go up. If you can fly on January 1st prices will be lower, especially for an early-morning flight; if you can put your trip off for a few days it will be even cheaper.

There must be something going on that week in Phoenix. If bad comes to worse, fly to Tuscon and drive to Phoenix. Otherwise, can you travel the week after 1/31 or travel the week before? Maybe you can check the prices of tickets flying out of Phoenix and buy your girlfriend a ticket to come out to visit you.

i don't envy you. my only advice is to keep the baby busy up until the flight and give the baby a nice bottle so maybe she will sleep through the whole thing.

I have never taken my kids on a flight but I have taken them on car trips. I found what works the best is to have their favorite toys with you. Always keep them occupied or if you have one of the new DvD players you can take with you that might help but at that age I don't know how long that would keep you baby entertained. Reading is a good thing to. I know many parents don't read to their kids at that age but I have been reading to my kids since they were about a month old and now they love it at least my 2 year old does my 8 month old just likes the pictures. Books are a good option. It's a relaxing activity you do while sitting anyway, so maybe that will work. Also, take out one toy at a time for her to play with. Good luck

I just flew alone with my 8 month old...he seemed to want to pull everything out of the back seat pocket- so I would bring things that she can "find" and pull out of the seat pocket. If you can, try to schedule the flight around her nap. Also- ask for the seat closest to the front of the airplane. I say this because there is no room to change a baby except for on the floor in the gally. Bring an extra blanket you can lay on the floor...because that is where you will have to change her! Good luck! You will be suprised at how well behaved she will be- there is so much to look at she will be entertained.

i used to live in sacramento, ca. still visit sometimes. and my aunt comes here a lot too. so i would know. its about 2 hours. give or take. depending on the weather, flight issues (if any) like delays. but im sure its 2 hours. it goes by sooo fast. so dont worry. we will get here safe. good time to fly too. the weather is NICE. well, depends on where the plane flys over. there is this storm coming off the south side of CA. maybe your light wont go near that. im sure they know better not to. have fun.

I want to book a flight to Hawaii and I found it is cheaper if I book a round trip flight from my home to Phoenix and then a seperate round trip flight from Phoenix to Honolulu. The problem is that these two flights will be on different airlines. I have never done anything like this before and am just wondering how your experience was and if it is worth the savings to do it this way. Also, can I check in for my second flight from my home airport? If not, then will I have to go out of security to check in once I get to Phoenix? What do I do about my baggage, is carry on my only option? I'd call an expert to ask but I have no idea who to call. Which airline should I call or should I call the airport in Phoenix? I just really have no idea who can help me, so any information you have would be great.

It's worth the savings!! I did this when I went overseas, and it was easy. The airlines handle the luggage, so all you have to do is run through the terminal! You won't have to go through a security check point unless they have check points at each gate. Do it though! If it's going to save you money, do it! Just be sure to leave plenty of lay-over time!

I'll just throw out a few examples of baggage agreement: US Air transfer to United, Continental transfer to Northweat, American to Hawaiian. Take your baggage claim sticker with you--don't lose it--on the minute chance you'd need to make a baggage claim. And as another said, leave PLENTY of connect time at PHX--I recommend at least 4 hours--so get there early, and if you're on time, just relax in an restaurant while you're waiting--you're on vacation, remember!
