Ever booked a connecting flight on two different airlines?
I want to book a flight to Hawaii and I found it is cheaper if I book a round trip flight from my home to Phoenix and then a seperate round trip flight from Phoenix to Honolulu. The problem is that these two flights will be on different airlines. I have never done anything like this before and am just wondering how your experience was and if it is worth the savings to do it this way. Also, can I check in for my second flight from my home airport? If not, then will I have to go out of security to check in once I get to Phoenix? What do I do about my baggage, is carry on my only option? I'd call an expert to ask but I have no idea who to call. Which airline should I call or should I call the airport in Phoenix? I just really have no idea who can help me, so any information you have would be great.

It's worth the savings!! I did this when I went overseas, and it was easy. The airlines handle the luggage, so all you have to do is run through the terminal! You won't have to go through a security check point unless they have check points at each gate. Do it though! If it's going to save you money, do it! Just be sure to leave plenty of lay-over time!

I've done it once (only because of a schedule mess-up). I arranged to have my bags transferred, no problem -- through the ticket counter of one of the airlines. Just call one (or both) of the airlines toll-free number. They will help you out. You can also look up Travel Agents in the yellow pages. Call around to find a friendly one who can help you with your exact situation.

Since you have already checked fares, you must know what airlines you are looking at. You didn't specify this your question. I'll just throw out a few examples of baggage agreement: US Air transfer to United, Continental transfer to Northweat, American to Hawaiian. If your first leg is Southwest, then you'd better just carry-on your luggage.

Pretty much all US-based airlines will "interline" with each other--meaning they'll check baggage through to your final destination, even if you're starting on a different airline that you ticketed separately. Just show both of you itineraries when you check in, and request your baggage be checked through to HNL (look on the sticker after they attach it to your bag to be sure it's routed through with your properly). Take your baggage claim sticker with you--don't lose it--on the minute chance you'd need to make a baggage claim. And as another said, leave PLENTY of connect time at PHX--I recommend at least 4 hours--so get there early, and if you're on time, just relax in an restaurant while you're waiting--you're on vacation, remember! Help me find a flight out of Phoenix!?
It's a flight from Phoenix to Tulsa. Roundtrip. July 18-24. We found a really really expensive, one on Southwest Airlines for $341 (cheapest we can find). Can you help???

If you have some flexibility, you can save about $35 by flying out on the 17th rather than the 18th (also on Southwest) -- traveling on Saturday is generally cheaper than flying on a Sunday. If you must travel on those specific dates and don't have the flexibility to leave a day early, you can always try bidding on a ticket at a cheaper price through a site such as Hotwire or Priceline. Right now, barring a fare sale in the next few weeks (which is not likely), the bidding might be the best shot you have at a lower price.

I'm booking for August 5th from Detroit, MI to Phoenix, AZ. I saw a roundtrip price for $180 a week ago, then the price jumped to $300, and now it's $260. Should I wait and see if the price will go back down to $180 or should I book it for $260?

I would wait and see. If the flight was 2 or so weeks away, I would say book it now, but you have a while and it may go back down again. How full is the flight? If it is pretty full already, I would book now.

Opinions on the arabs that were kicked off the US Airways flight to Phoenix
Opinions on the arabs that were kicked off the US Airways flight to Phoenix?
I fly US Airways all the time......the arabs were kicked off because other (I am assuming non arab) passengers said they heard them making anti american remarks. Plus they were praying before they got on the flight. Is that being crazy or careful? Actually, I just saw one of them on CNN and they all had round trip tickets and were on a return trip from a religous confrence in Minn. Another thing that had been said yesterday is that they were not sitting in their assigned seats, but that guy said - there was only one not in his assigned seat and that is because US Airways had upgraded him to first class because he flys so often.

from the accountss of witnesses as seen on tv and on radio.. three of them make a deliberate point of making their prayer in publick and in a very clear way to show there lack of respect of others... for muslims traveling it is not required for them to pray in such a mannor in such a place. They are alowed by their "faith" to delay their pray to a more sutible place and time... they were acting to provoke...... how were any to know if they were praying for a good explosion or for there safe arival...or just to provoke hostility... they were in the wrong.... but there was some over reacting on the part of the authorities as well...

There were two more things to add to that list. 1. three of them only had 1 way tickets and 2. they had no luggage. This looks very supicious, I must admit. The prayers, that was fine-no objections to that. I even gripe to people about Bush and the Governemnt-so, I cannot fault this. I had thought it was awful that they were kicked off the plane. But, add it all up, now I can see why. It was very poor judgement for the Imams to put themselves in such a situation.

Im flying to south africa tomorrow and i want to know if i can wrap my luggage in saran wrap to prevent theft. is this allowed? will it be removed?

Gold coast in Glendale is a good place. They had a Cessna that I used to rent from them, so I spent a lot of time with them. I never flew in one of their helicopters, but I did get to know a lot of the instructors there and they are all a bunch of good guys. Their business policies are great also. They are involved (or at least a few years ago were) with a bunch of commercial helicopter operations doing things like filming for movies and tv shows, they had a few over seas contracts also. The flight school was not a money making venture for them (they didn't loose money either), it was more of a passion of the owner to help out people wanting to learn to fly helicopters. A big plus to this type of company is you have a foot in the door with the company. You may not get a job with them when you are done, but knowing people in the industry opens other doors for you. I have flown at a lot of different places and this honestly is one of the best places you can end up at. Do your research, but do check them out.

I am moving to Phoenix and will need to come back to Bakersfield at least once, if not twice, per month to see my children. The fares are really expensive and need the cheapest fare possible.

The cost difference of gas or renting a car could possibly supplement the cost differerence, just price those out as well and see where the savings is. If you are looking at flying on weekends with a Friday departure and Sunday return, you can forget finding anything cheap. Those are the most expensive days of the week to travel. Bakersfield is a smaller airport and you are NOT going to find discount fares in and out of there. You need to stick with the larger airports like LAX to find cheaper fares. You can find comparable fares to LA on America West. Avoid using internet travel sites, these will tack on booking fee's. Southwest does not participate with these sites so book directly with them. America West merged with US Air, so book on US Air's website. Book early to get Southwests lowest fares, they are minimal and go very fast. America West would be the second option, their fares last longer by comparison to Southwest so you could possibly have access to them closer to time of departure. Plus for that short of a distance you want non-stop. SW, AW and United are the 3 options you should only consider. And Burbank and LAX should be your back up airport considerations when pricing fares. Just break down the math and see if flying to LA or Burbank on Southwest and renting a car would save money in the long run. This was the worst flight I have ever taken and should be on the news. There were airplane door problems, refueling issues, bathroom light issues, bathroom water issues and passenger seat problems. It was delayed and passengers were boarded and deboarded multiple times with little or no air conditioning in Phoenix 109 degree weather. We were told that Customer Relations would contact us with some sort of compensation. It better not be a $10 meal voucher!

I just had a problem with US Air a few weeks ago. I went to www.usair.com/feedback and complained. I never heard anything from them, but then I got a $150 flight voucher from them in the mail. So, try going there and complaining and see what happens.

Why is the flight from Phoenix to Pittsburgh so much shorter than Pittsburgh to Phoenix?
The flight from Pittsburgh to Phoenix is 4:40 and the flight FROM Phoenix to Pittsburgh is 4:02. Why is that?
