The ancient Egyptians would have said..Ba Bak Benu.. Rise like the Phoenix from the ashes. It was reborn of itself.. of its own destruction. The ability to soar comes from its physical purification... the burning away of all gross matter. No easy task considering it only happened once every thousand years.

According to an old Native American legend, which is older than the European invasion, the Phoenix was a warrior that was killed by his enemy. As he died he swore revenge . When he reached the upper world the Great Spirit had mercy on him because he was a great leader and cared for his people and allowed him to come back to the middle world. As the sun inched its way above the mountains, he rose from his ashes and slew his enemies and returned to his people to lead them to a greatness they had never known. This is the legend of many of the indians of the southwest . There are many more similar ones throughout the Nations. I feel that there is a modicum of truth in all legends and since this one is world wide and from many different cultures, maybe there is more truth than legend.
