best place to purchase a last minute flight?
I missed my flight from DCA to Phoenix and need to purchase another ticket. Where is the best place on the web to find great deals on a last minute booking like this? I tried yahoo and orbitz, both quoting me about $300 for a one way. Anyone have an idea where I can find a better deal?

Phone your airline or ticket issuer to see if you have any value remaining on your ticket. You might find it's not worth it after the $200 (?) change fee, but it's worth a try. If that doesn't work, then have a look at http://www.lastminute.com and run your itinerary through http://www.bookingbuddy.com 's one-way search. With Lastminute, it's often cheaper to book hotel or car rental together with your flight to qualify for a cheaper fare class that's not affected by advance purchase requirements. A quick heads-up before you start: I see seats available with Continental on the 11th, via Houston, for $252 total, one-way. See if Bookingbuddy or Lastminute can do better, and if they can't you can book direct from http://www.continental.com I also checked Southwest, but they're $344 for 10th or 11th.
