Is there any particular reason why US Airways used an old plane for a very long flight?
When we flew from San Francisco to Phoenix, the flight was just fine because the plane was new and the seats were very comfortable. But when we flew from Phoenix to Orlando, the flight sucked because the plane was much older and the seats were very narrow and had almost no padding at all. Does US Airways do this with all of their longer flights or were we just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

i guess you were happened to fly with one of their aging planes.

I have fown from Pitsburgh to San Fran on US Air which was well over 5 hours and the plane was brand new, had in-flight movies, and was comfortable. so you must have just got unlucky.

Almost every airline has some older and some newer planes in their fleets, depending on maintenance and flight schedules and other factors, you were most lkely were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

What to do between flight arrival and hotel check in?
Now, this is my first real vacation that I have taken since being on my own. I'm going to phoenix. My flight arrival time is 10:30 AM but my check in at the DoubleTree hotel isn't until 3 PM... What am I suppossed to do between that time? Will they allow me to check in early?

Usually yes, if the room is available. If not, they will check your bags and you can keep yourself busy until check-in.

they might not let you check in early, but they will probably let you drop off your luggage. if they do, drop off your luggage and tour the city.

They might let you in early if they have an open room - they definitely will take your luggage for you - just check it with the bell man and come back when you are ready to check into your room. You can leave the hotel and go have fun!

Lets see you get in at 10:30 which means you get off the plane at 11:00, get your luggage by 11:30, get to the car rental get out of there at 12:30, Go get some lunch, Out of lunch by 1:30 drive to the hotel, arrive around 2:30, drive around a little to get a feel for the area. Then check in What is the problem? Most likely you can check in early, call and ask.

Good 4 u. Hope you have a wonderful and safe time in Phoenix. Well of course while at the airport listen to music/read/nap. Once arriving in town goto your hotel and just check in your bags so u don't lug them around and get acquainted with your new surroundings and ask the staff for information. That's what they're there to do and will more than likely be happy to help or find someone who can help you. Safe travels. d
